Yo-yo quilts are made from rounded pieces of fabric that have length stitches on the outside edges. The stitches are pulled together, gathering the fabric circles into small rosettes. Then the rosettes are attached to make a quilt. Yo-yo quilts are often handmade by talented quilters and can sell for around $120 on eBay.
There is a vintage 1940s yo-yo quilt for sale for US$ 100, for example. The overall look of the quilts is vintage as it moves away from the patchwork everyone is used to. The labor-intensive nature of making this quilt is what often makes it so expensive.
