The 1992 cents might not exactly sound like something you'd write about. Printed by the US Mint, of course, these pennies have a value of US$ 0.01 which almost always remains that way over the decades. However, there are some pennies from 1992 that resell for thousands because of an error.

In the 1990s, the US Mint used different dies to produce circulation and proof coins. There was a mix-up at the Mint in 1992, and a proofing die was used to make the “crown” side of some 1992 pennies. As a result, certain spacing on the coin was wrong in the “AM” in America and in initials “FG”. The base of the Lincoln Memorial is also spaced differently than most pennies. Philadelphia and Denver Mints produced these error coins, which became worth a lot because of the error.
