Federal style bull's-eye mirrors are convex mirrors that have been a symbol of wealth and power for centuries. The shape of the mirrors would light up a room when lit by candles, so these mirrors predate the invention of electricity. The Federal Era ran from 1776-1806.

These mirrors were also known as “Girandole” mirrors and were made of hardwood coated with gilded bronze and gold leaf.
