In 1967 Lite-Brite was invented. At the time, the toy lacked the sophistication you see in today's models. It was just a light box with plastic legs fitted into a panel. You could create an image using the included templates, or you could create your own “free form” image. There were eight leg colors in total: violet, pink, yellow, green, clear, orange, blue and red.

Hasbro would provide new colors and refills in case the kids lost parts (which they often did). If you have a Lite-Brite from the 1960s, you can resell it for up to $330, as long as it's in mint condition.
