Director George Lucas was very picky about who he allowed to design the action figures and merchandise for Star Wars in the 1970s. The toy company produced over 100 different types of action figures between 1978 and 1985 and sold more than 300 million of these toys for fans.
Most toys from that period have a resale value of under $1,000. But, some Kenner action figures have been auctioned off for far more. One example of the rocket-firing Boba Fett, of which only a few were made. The toy debuted at the New York Toy Fair to promote Empire Strikes Back, but it was pulled quickly because of safety concerns. Decades later, it was sold at auction for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
